MI6 Got It Wrong....Again

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/apr/11/terror-arrests-pakistan-intelligence

How long are the security services going to use anti-terror legislation to justify their actions? Faulty intelligence once again has lead to the arrest and detention of boys who are as young as 18 years old and have come to the UK to try and make a better life for themselves through education. But the security service saw something else. They saw young men from the Afghan/Pakistan frontier and jumped to the conclusion that they must be up to no good. No evidence just the hunch that everyone from that region of the world has to be a threat to the UK! Just because students have come from a certian area of the world does not make them a threat to the country but it seems that that was the ONLY reason why they have been seen as a threat.

As many know when you go to a different country or go to away to university you are more likely to be friends with people you have most in common with and it is not unsually for people of the same nationality or religion to stick together. I saw this myself when I was at university. Majority of the asians hang out together and those who were from Ireland or with an Irish background also stuck together.

There would therefore be no reason why these boys would not be friends. They might even have been at school together back home. All questions will soon be answered. But what the sad thing about this episode is that the boys have no family here, no support, no one to call. I think MI6 have gone too far this time. There needs to be some kind of control over what is happening as clearly they have no clue who is or who is not a threat.
